With Abu Ghraib back in the headlines and the media clamoring over detainee abuse, we at America’s Majority were reminded of a U.S. News and World Report article from a few months ago.
 
The story details how a young insurgent was cocky and wasn’t going to roll on his fellow insurgents while in American or Iraqi police custody.

An Al-Qaeda Strategy That Has Already Failed

The Times of London is reporting that Zarqawi is attempting to “set up his own mini-army and move away from individual suicide attacks to a more organised resistance movement.”

But Al-Qaeda in Iraq tried quasi-military coordinated attacks last spring–they were a complete failure, except in the eyes of the legacy media.

More Carelessness from Brookings

For four months, the “Iraq Index,” a project of the Saban Center of the Brookings Institution, has failed to update a key indicator of Coalition progress. 

The data in question records the number of “actionable tips” generated by the Iraqi population.  An “actionable tip” is one that contains information regarding anti-government forces that can be used in operational planning by the MNF or by Iraqi Security Forces.
